Naivasha town is positioned in Kenya with Longonot National Park, Mount Longonot, Hell’s Gate National Park, Lake Naivasha, hippopotamus, Birdlife, wild animals and other attractions that tourists. In the previous years, the town was recorded to have the highest crime rate but presently have reduced mainly rape because a community policing programme was introduced to improve on the security in the area to attract more visitors and investors and the situation can be maintained when the investors and the government agencies in the area work together.
Mr. Muriithi Ndegwa, the managing director of Kenya Tourist Board said they included Naivasha on their forceful local domestic market to strengthen the marketing programme in the future and the board expects to attain a 50% business margin from inside Kenya and from the East African Community by 2012.
Over the last six months, the town received so many local visitors and in December it recorded around 30,000 visitors and many more are expected in the Easter holidays as serious advertising of the town starts because it’s during April, December and August the students break off from schools to travel to special places.
Mombasa and Malindi have been the most preferred places by the Kenyans but because of the current changes in Naivasha town, the places are lagging behind. Other preferred places include Maasai Mara, Amboseli and Samburu though are too expensive for everyone in the country to afford.
The Member of Parliament Mr. John Mututho in Naivasha town said a lot of procedures have been put up to boost the tourist potentials like creating 18 sand beaches around Lake Naivasha.
