RWANDA OPENS A NEW TOURIST TRAIL

A 227km tourist trail has been opened by the Rwanda Development Board to boost its sector. The trail starts from Rubavu and passes through five districts therefore covering the western Rwanda corridor.

Rwanda’s major foreign exchange earner is tourism so more products have to be introduced for tourists. In 2010, the country received revenue of US$200million and according to the current reports; the country has received US$216 million this year which is an increment.

The trail includes twelve coffee washing stations, three tea factories and beaches along the shores of Lake Kivu.walking will take 10 days, cycling  will take 6 days and  driving will take a day.

The trail will lead to the development of regional infrastructures which will lead to the sustainable economic growth because the locals will be benefiting locally therefore they have to maintain it.

Other new tourism products that have been introduced include birding routes in Eastern province, Bugesera and cultural products in Nyanza.
