Kenya refutes UK’s report about insecurity

Mohamed Hersi who is the chair person of the Kenya Mombasa and Coast Tourist Association disproved all the reports which were produced claiming that the Virgin Atlantic’s decision to quit operating in Kenya towards the end of this year was fueled by the fact that Kenya is a very insecure country. Hersi said while addressing the Star that Virgin Atlantic chose to stop flying to Kenya due to commercially related matters and nothing close to the country security status.

He made the comment I response to the recently published news article in the United Kingdom’s Daily Telegraph where they stated that Virgin will be quitting flying to Kenya due to insecurity reasons.  He added that whoever the writer was, the information he gave was so wrong which should not be considered by any body.

Meanwhile, MCTA seriously warns against some information on social networks as well as some online news agencies which he believes is published to destroy Kenya‘s image to the public. Virgin Atlantic mentioned that its reason for stopping to operating along this route in September yet it has struggled so much to keep it despite that fact that it is used by other flights like the Kenya Airways and the British Airways is because the business is no longer that good. All claims that Kenya is not safe are false rumors because world blue chip companies will be shifting their Africa centers to Nairobi and indicator that Kenya is actually safe. In this year 2011 to 2012, there is an increase in the number of tourists from UK by 17% therefore Kenya is still the ideal place for those who want to go for a holiday of a tour so said Hersi. He also asked the Government to allocate more funds to the Kenya Tourism Board to be able to compete effectively for market in different the country. Both international and local tourists should fell free to visit Kenya tourists’ attractions more so their wildlife in the different national parks any time since it is a safe tourist destination.
