Arusha is performing well in environment tourism

Reports from Arusha Tanzania reveal that they have just discovered a new economic recess via selling its green environment to foreign visitors who have resorted to environment tourism. The report was made by Engineer Estomih Chang’a the Municipal Director during a special mass conducted to persuade people to plant more plants and all sorts of vegetation cover. They can start by planting some 2,000 tree seedlings along the perennial Themi River Valley because there have been so many travelers who have been visiting Arusha just to see the local environment and on record the council received about 200,000 environment tourists per year.

According to him, through environment tourism, the council can earn about 30 billion every year and can easily maintain that rate because all they have to do is to plant as many trees as possible in almost all places. Mr. Gaudence Lyimo the Municipal Mayor said that in few years’ time the municipal officials together with the local residents will make sure that every place is covered by trees to attract more environmental tourist.

Arusha will soon be a city in the forest and when people are flying over, they will be seeing only green with just a few tall buildings, we want people flying above to see the green cover competing with tall buildings but the aim is to have trees dominate the city skies so said Mr. Lyimo. There was a group of tour operators, driver-guides and small scale traders operating in town for the tree-planting exercise and they were led by the Municipal Mayor and the Acting Director. Arusha is now in second position after Moshi Municipality as far as environment conservation is concerned and they will be getting efforts awards of 2012 and a special certificate of recognition which will be presented to the Municipal Council after the National Environment Week to be held in Kilimanjaro region during this week.  The guest of honor will be, Dr Mohamed Gharib Bilal the Vice-President of Tanzania who will represent President Jakaya Kikwete.
