The Tanzanian Embassy in India together with the with Tanzania National Park Authority (Tanapa) as well as the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) have prepared tourism fair which will done along the streets of India in an effort to improve on the country’s tourist attractions in three big cities of Indian. According to the Tourism Service Manager Philip Chitaunga at TTB, this fair will be in cities which are situated in the major tourist source markets which include cities like Mumbai, Bungalow and New Delhi to attract more tourists to Tanzania so he told the guardian yesterday. India was chosen because it is the 6th source of tourists to Tanzania according to the 2010 records therefore is among the top ten tourism source market for Tanzania.
He added that these road shows will start on July 3rd to 6th 2012 and at the moment, there are about eight companies that have already registered and confirmed their participation in this show, there are also 4 hoteliers, 3 tour operators and 1 them is a travel agent and 1 is an airline. This will be the very first show of its kind in India but is expected to produce great results for the Tanzanian tourism industry through an increase in the number of people who travel from India to overseas destinations may as a single traveler, family travelers, corporate incentive visitors and student travelers.
Philip said that all they need is to have Tanzanian tour companies use this chance given to tem since this show has been organized for their benefit and not the industry only but promote their services and products as well. Therefore those who feel like joining this show, they can visit the TTB and Tanapa offices to get more details. TTB and Tanapa together are currently gathering the necessary tourism promotional materials that they will have to send to the Tanzania Embassy in India to distribute to the three cities where the road shows will be taking place.
Through the road shows, people will have enough time to have a one-to-one chat and also cultivate business contacts which will be used to learn about the latest travel trends and developments in the Tanzanian tourism industry he added.
“We have decided to organize the promotion because India is number six source of tourists to Tanzania and is among the top ten tourism source market for Tanzania. In 2010 it was number six tourism source market for visitors to Tanzania,” he noted.
