There are tourism experts who will be coming from various countries to attend their meeting which will be in Zanzibar Tanzania towards the end of this very month to discuss the different issues concerning the tourism industry in all the developing countries across. This is an International Conference and will be about Sustainable Tourism in Developing Countries, has been prearranged by the University of Dar es Salaam Business School (UDBS), Marketing Department.
Dr John Philemon who is the Conference Coordinator mentioned during his speech at the news conference in Dar es Salaam that this meeting will be held on August 8 and 9 at Zanzibar Beach Resort and will be officially opened by Ambassador Seif Ali Idd the Zanzibar Second Vice- President. He emphasized that the major purpose for holding this meeting is to purposeful find out the results of all the different researches done on matters pertaining to the tourism industry and also the practical experiences that will help them find the perfect solutions to the so many problems facing the tourism industry in developing countries.
According to Dr Philemon, the meeting will attract participants from Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Botswana, Israel, Nigeria, South Korea, Iran, Mexico, Sweden and United Kingdom. there are others countries like Namibia, New Zealand, South Africa, United States and Germany which are also expected to be apart of the meeting. The topic will be the Challenges in Tourism Development and Sustainability and the results will go along way in transformation of the tourism sector so said Dr Philemon. According to the reports form the researchers, tourism sector is currently facing a lot of problems more so in respect of how the sector and alternative tourism products are managed to maximize the contribution to economic development and poverty eradication without endangering the available socio-cultural resources in the country.
