Itinerary
On arrival at Nairobi International Airport, you’ll be welcomed by your guide and transferred to the historic Norfolk Hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure to relax after your journey.
Depart Nairobi for Nyeri, passing rural farmlands en route to the Aberdare mountain range. After lunch, explore this lush highland forest on game drives. Stay at The Ark, a unique tree lodge built above a floodlit waterhole and salt lick, where elephants, rhinos, and leopards gather after dark.
Overnight at The Ark.
After breakfast, drive down into the Rift Valley to reach Lake Nakuru. Check in at Lion Hill Lodge and set out on an afternoon game drive. Famed for its flamingos and protected populations of black rhinos and Rothschild giraffes, the park offers superb birdwatching and big game viewing.
Overnight at Lion Hill Lodge.
Enjoy a morning boat safari on Lake Naivasha, watching hippos and birds along the reed-lined shores. Visit Elsamere, former home of conservationists Joy and George Adamson. After lunch, journey to the Maasai Mara with opportunities to spot wildlife and visit a Maasai village en route.
Overnight at Keekorok Lodge.
A full day of game viewing across the expansive Mara plains. Visit the Mara River, a gathering point for crocodiles and hippos and a dramatic stage for the Great Migration. With luck, you may witness the movement of wildebeest and zebra as they cross predator-rich territory.
Overnight at Keekorok Lodge.
After a morning game drive, continue to the Isebania border. After crossing into Tanzania, travel to Musoma on the shores of Lake Victoria. From there, take a boat to a private island retreat at Lukuba Island Lodge. Spend the afternoon at leisure, swimming or relaxing by the water.
Overnight at Lukuba Island Lodge.
Start the day with a boat excursion alongside local fishermen. Then drive through the less-visited Western Corridor of the Serengeti, where giraffes and elephants graze the savannah. Reach your camp in the central Serengeti with panoramic views from Nyaroboro Hills.
Overnight at Mapito Tented Camp.
Spend the day tracking wildlife across the Serengeti plains. Follow the movements of the Great Migration if timing allows, and watch for prides of lions, cheetahs on the hunt, and herds of elephants moving across the horizon.
Overnight at Mapito Tented Camp.
After an early game drive, continue to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping en route at Olduvai Gorge to learn about early human history. After lunch, join a guided nature walk along the northern crater rim, an area rich in forest and wildlife.
Overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.
A full-day safari within the Ngorongoro Crater, home to over 30,000 animals. This World Heritage Site is one of the best places in Africa to spot the rare black rhino. With luck, you may see all members of the Big Five in one game drive.
