Overview
This safari blends wild adventure with cultural richness. Begin with wildlife and river life in Murchison Falls, then explore primate habitats in Kibale and Queen Elizabeth. The peak of the trip is tracking mountain gorillas in the misty Bwindi Forest. Each day brings a fresh landscape from rift valleys to lakes and forests, culminating in a game drive at Lake Mburo and a city send off in Kampala.

Your guide will meet you at the airport and drive you to your hotel in Kampala. Enjoy a relaxed evening and dinner at one of several comfortable options: Holiday Express, Serena, or Sheraton.
Overnight: Kampala
Rise early for a scenic drive north through Uganda’s historic Luwero Triangle to Murchison Falls National Park. En route, witness the Nile sensationally squeeze through a narrow gorge before dropping 43 meters in a powerful cascade. Cross over by ferry, keeping an eye out for hippos, crocodiles, and buffaloes along the shores. Stay overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge—or opt for Sambiya River Lodge or Red Chilli Camp.
Overnight: Paraa Safari Lodge
Your day starts with an early game drive spotting giraffes, antelopes, bushbuck, and waterbuck. After breakfast and lunch, take a relaxing boat trip along the Nile up to the bottom of the falls. Large schools of hippos and crocodiles will be visible along the riverbanks. Return to your chosen lodge for dinner and rest.
Overnight: Paraa Safari Lodge or alternative
After breakfast, head west across striking countryside to Fort Portal. Stop en route for lunch and scenic rest breaks, arriving in the late afternoon. Choose to stay at Ndali Lodge, Rwenzori View Guest House, or Kanyankyu Campsite.
Overnight: Fort Portal
Start early with a chimpanzee trek in Kibale National Park. Watch these close relatives of humans as they move through dense forest. The area also hosts 13 other primate species and over 300 bird species. After the trek, journey on to Queen Elizabeth National Park for dinner and overnight at the Institute of Ecology or Mweya Safari Lodge.
Overnight: Queen Elizabeth NP
Begin with an early morning game drive across Queen Elizabeth’s varied terrain. Expect sightings of elephants, buffalo, antelopes, lions, hyenas, and more. After a hearty lunch, take a boat cruise down the Kazinga Channel, where hippos, crocodiles, and colorful waterbirds gather. Return to your lodge for dinner and rest.

After breakfast, traverse the Ishasha sector where tree‑climbing lions may be spotted. Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst wildlife before continuing to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest—home to almost half the world’s mountain gorillas. Settle in at Buhoma Community Bandas, Gorilla Resort Camp, Buhoma Homestead, or Kitandara Tented Camp.

Today is the highlight: trekking into the forest to find mountain gorillas in family groups of up to eight. The trek takes from two to six hours, through steep forest terrain. When you meet the gorillas, you’ll have an hour to observe them feeding, playing, and caring for their young. This rare, emotional experience unfolds close to one of the world’s last wild gorilla populations. Return to your camp for dinner and rest.
