Gorilla trekking is available year-round, but the dry seasons (June–September and December–February) offer easier hiking conditions.
Moderate to strenuous depending on your fitness and the gorilla family’s location. Some treks are short (1–2 hours); others take longer.
Long-sleeved shirts, long trousers, hiking boots, rain jacket, gardening gloves, and a small backpack with water and snacks.
Only persons aged 15 years and above are allowed to participate in gorilla trekking.
Gorilla permits are non-refundable and non-transferable once issued, except in rare cases approved by the Rwanda Development Board.
