Overview
This short safari is a perfect introduction to Kenya’s iconic wilderness. Over three unforgettable days, you’ll explore the Maasai Mara, a land of open savannahs and teeming wildlife. From herds of elephants and prides of lions to the elusive leopard, the Mara offers one of the best game viewing experiences in Africa. Whether you’re hoping to witness the drama of the Great Migration or enjoy quiet moments on a morning game drive, this safari offers a window into untamed Africa with all the comforts of lodge accommodation. Ideal for couples, families, or first-time visitors, this journey combines dramatic landscapes, cultural richness, and thrilling wildlife encounters.
After meeting your guide in Nairobi, your journey begins with a scenic drive down the Great Rift Valley, one of East Africa’s most dramatic geological features. Along the way, you’ll stop for sweeping views over the escarpment before continuing toward the Maasai Mara, Kenya’s most celebrated wildlife reserve.
The Mara forms part of a larger ecosystem that extends into Tanzania’s Serengeti, and its rolling grasslands support a remarkable diversity of wildlife. You’ll arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, set out on your first game drive, where you may spot giraffes, zebras, elephants, and the big cats that make the reserve so famous. Return to your lodge as the sun sets across the plains.
Overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge, Keekorok Lodge, Mara Serena Safari Lodge, or Olonana Camp
Wake to the sounds of the African bush and prepare for a full day of adventure. The day includes morning and afternoon game drives, with a break for lunch either back at the lodge or packed as a picnic depending on your preference. With your own private vehicle and guide, the pace and timing of the day are entirely flexible, making it ideal for travelers with young children or couples looking for a slower rhythm.
As you explore the reserve, you may witness lion prides resting in the shade, cheetahs scanning the horizon, or herds of wildebeest gathering near water sources. Birdlife is equally rich, from eagles to secretary birds. After a day tracking wildlife across the savannah, return to your lodge for dinner and an evening under the stars.
