Itinerary
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you’ll meet your safari guide for a welcome briefing. Take a short city tour to explore Kigali’s vibrant art scene and pay a solemn visit to the Genocide Memorial—a powerful reflection on Rwanda’s past and progress. Afterward, depart for Ruhengeri in the Northern Province. Enjoy the drive through Rwanda’s famed rolling hills before settling in near Volcanoes National Park.

Rise early for a transfer to the park headquarters at Kinigi. Following a safety briefing, begin your trek into the forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take between 2 to 8 hours depending on the location of the gorillas, but the reward—spending an hour observing these magnificent apes in their natural habitat—is unmatched. Watch silverbacks patrol their groups, juveniles play, and mothers nurture their young. Return to your lodge for a well-earned rest.
After breakfast, drive east to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah park. The journey takes you from lush highlands to lowland acacia woodland, papyrus swamps, and open plains. Upon arrival, enjoy an afternoon game drive. Expect to see elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, impalas, and possibly hyenas or the elusive leopard. Keep an eye out for the birdlife, including the rare shoebill stork and papyrus gonolek.
